Announcing Diego Ramirez as Running Dog’s Editor-At-Large

We’re thrilled to welcome Diego Ramirez to the Running Dog team as our Editor-At-Large! 

Diego Ramirez is an artist, writer and arts worker. Originally from the city of Guadalajara, Mexico, he currently resides in Narrm/Melbourne, Australia. Ramirez completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at RMIT University and an Honours Degree of Fine Arts at Monash University. 

His work has been shown locally and internationally at MARS Gallery, ACMI, Westspace, Torrance Art Museum, Hong-Gah Museum, Careof Milan, Buxton Cotntemporary, WRO Media Art Biennale, Human Resources LA, Art Central HK, Sydney Contemporary, Deslave and multiple artist run spaces. International festivals have also screened his video work at EXiS, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, File Sao Paulo, Stuttgarter Filmwinter, Currents New Media Festival, Medrar for Contemporary Art, Channels Video Art Festival, Festival Les Instants Video, and Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film & Video Festival.
 

Ramirez’s writing features in A+a: Art and Australia, NECSUS, un Projects, Runway Journal, Critical Contemporary Culture Journal, Australian Book Review, The Article, Fragmented Magazine, *dumb brun(ette) and catalogue essays for various exhibitions. He is co-founder and co-editor of the discursive platform *dumb brun(ette), which published the booklet *dumb brun(ette) vol.1 for Bus Projects’ stall at the NGV Melbourne Art Book Fair. He is currently Gallery Manager at SEVENTH Gallery, a 20-year-old ARI dedicated to advancing and promulgating BIPOC discourses. He also assisted with the production of Neutron Star, a workshop delivered by MacArthur and Guggenheim Fellow Guillermo Gomez Peña and his ‘troupe’ La Pocha Nostra.

Ramirez is also a speaker, delivering lectures at WRITING & CONCEPTS, Experimenta Social, RMIT University and high profile media channels such as ABC and SBS.
