Expressions of Interest: Running Dog Assistant Editor

Running Dog is currently seeking expressions of interest for a six-month Assistant Editor, who will work closely with the publication’s founding editor Naomi Riddle. The position will provide an opportunity for an emerging editor and writer to assist with the weekly production of articles for the platform.

Applicants are strongly advised to familiarise themselves with Running Dog’s style and ethos before applying. This is outlined in the series of Letters from the Editor as well as on the submissions page.

The Role:

The Assistant Editor will be contracted to assist Running Dog’s editor Naomi Riddle in the delivery of weekly articles for six months. They will be responsible for the following tasks:

— working closely with the editor in developing publishing schedules and responding to online submission requests
— researching and maintaining working lists for upcoming shows, exhibitions, festivals or events
— liaising with Running Dog contributors and coordinating text editing
— assisting in preparing content for the website including copy editing, images and permissions, and other aspects of production
— assisting with event preparation for Verge Gallery partnership events

Total remuneration is $1,500 for the six-month position ($250 per month).

Your cover letter should outline why this role is important to you at this stage of your career, as well as your previous experience. Please note that Running Dog uses the phrase ‘contemporary art’ in reference to a range of creative disciplines, so experience within the visual arts field is not a requirement.
